The history of the Brown Rings

Christ's College Rugby Football Club was founded in 1875 by Alfred Cort Haddon, who is considered the father of modern anthropology.

In the 1960 Varsity Match, eight of the starting Cambridge team were students at Christ's and all of the side's points were scored by Christ's players.

The CCRFC is nicknamed "The Brown Rings" after the brown and white hoops featured on the match kit, after the college colours. The Club is the only college team to use the true college colours; other college teams have adopted a blue and white strip.
