CONSTITUTION
Christ's College Rugby Football Club Constitution
Composed March 2013
1. The Club shall be called the Christ’s College Rugby Football Club, commonly abbreviated to the CCRFC.
2. The Club colours shall be brown and white rings.
3. The Club shall hold an Annual Dinner preceded by the Annual General Meeting at the end of each Lent term.
3.1 The Presidents Cup will be awarded each year at the Annual General Meeting, decided by popular vote of the members.
4. The Club shall hold an Old Boys Match at the end of each Lent term.
5. The Officers of the Club shall be as follows:
5.1 An Honorary President who shall be a Fellow of the College. This post shall last as long as the Fellow is happy to remain.
5.2 A Committee consisting of a Captain, a Vice-Captain, a Treasurer, a Social Secretary, a Tour Secretary and two additional Committee members; who shall all be resident undergraduate or post-graduate student Members. These posts shall last one year.
5.3 The Captain is responsible for overseeing all affairs of the Club; organising all matches, training sessions and coaching, providing results for the League Secretary, ensuring eligibility and safety of players, and attending the Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club Captains meetings. The role of the Vice-Captain is to assist the Captain in these roles.
5.4 The Secretary is responsible for the well-being and management of the Club accounts and finances and taking minutes at meetings.
5.5 The Social Secretary shall organise social events.
5.6 The Tour Secretary is responsible for organising a tour, with the help of other committee members where required.
5.7 The additional Committee members shall take on responsibilities as designated by the Captain.
5.8 Elections shall take place at the Annual General Meeting.
5.9 Election onto the Committee will be done by a majority vote.
5.10 Nominations shall have a Proposer and a Seconder.
5.11 Election for the role of Tour Secretary will take place at the Annual Tour Meeting in Michaelmas term; this position may be held by a member already on the Committee.
6. Club members shall follow the RFU’s ‘Code of Rugby’:
6.1 Play to win – but not at all cost.
6.2 Win with dignity, lose with grace.
6.3 Observe the laws and regulations of the game.
6.4 Respect opponents, referees and all participants.
6.5 Reject cheating, racism, violence, and drugs.
6.6 Value volunteers and paid officials alike.
6.7 Enjoy the game.
7. A yearly subscription shall be charged to all members at the discretion of the Committee.
8. In order to be eligible for earning a Club Tie, a minimum of two appearances have to have been made for the Club.
9. Members shall wear Club ties to all meetings; failure to do so shall result in a suitable fine, determined by the Committee.
10. Club members shall follow the traditions of the Club.
11. Full kit should be worn to all social events, and lateness will be fine.
11.1 At social events only past and present members of the Committee shall initiate games.
12. No alterations or additions shall be made to these rules without notice being given at the previous business meeting. Members shall be given a copy of proposed alterations at least 24 hours before any vote.
